Prince’s Trust Canada proudly announces the appointment of The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, to its Board of Directors. Dowdeswell’s extensive experience in public service, governance, and sustainability makes her an incredible addition.

As the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Dowdeswell demonstrated a commitment to democracy, civil society, and environmental sustainability. Before her tenure, she held prominent positions in provincial and federal governments, including leading the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Dowdeswell to the Board,” said Mark Fell, Chair of the Board and Vice Chairman, Enterprise Clients at the Royal Bank of Canada. “Her leadership and passion align with our mission to empower young people.”

Dowdeswell’s dedication to public service has earned her recognition as an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Member of the Order of Ontario.

“Ms Dowdeswell’s experience engaging young people, understanding how to build strong communities and channel limited resources comes at a crucial time as we sharpen our focus on creating pathways for barriered youth,” said Farah Mohamed, CEO of Prince’s Trust Canada.

“I am excited to contribute to Prince’s Trust Canada’s impactful work,” said Elizabeth Dowdeswell. “I believe that investing in youth will be the key to building a strong and sustainable society, environment and economy.”

The Honourable Dowdeswell joins board members Laurel Broten, Tania Carnegie, Greg Frankson, Chethan Lakshman, Cynthia (Cindy) Thorburn, Malik Talib, Janine Windolph and Chair Emeritus Hon. Hilary M. Weston.
