Success Story

Sulaiman

Felt like he was given resources to succeed

“Taking a TKTC program helped me learn practical, real-world training in the world of Horticulture,” explains Sulaiman about his experience with the program. “Not only do I feel more equipped to find careers in Horticulture, but I’ve also expanded my network of contacts to include scientists, landscapers, professors and horticulturists.”

The TKTC program introduced participants to the diverse sector of Horticulture and the many viable, fulfilling and respected career paths in the field. The three-day skill development and career exploration program consists of a 90-minute virtual classroom learning session featuring industry professionals and a question-and-answer session, followed by two days of in-person site tours at various gardens throughout the city of Toronto for examples of horticultural practices. “These site tours were guided by former professors with a considerable amount of knowledge about the garden locations we were visiting. Meeting and learning from our guides at Aga Khan Museum and Toronto Musical Gardens were highlights for me,” explains Sulaiman.

“Overall, the program gave me insight into opportunities to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable world through horticultural practices,” says Sulaiman, “and provided invaluable resources to help me continue on my own path.”
